Energy Audit Program – Legacy Program Customers Only

Energy audits provide customers with a comprehensive analysis of their building energy use and recommendations on ways to reduce energy costs and improve energy efficiency. Audits usually consider all major end-uses including lighting, motors, HVAC, refrigeration and water heating. The audit report should address whether opportunities exist for at least two major energy systems in the building.

KCP&L will offer incentives to customers to cover up to 50% of the cost of an energy audit. To receive the energy audit incentive, the customer must implement at least one of the audit recommendations that qualify for a KCP&L energy efficiency rebate. The energy audit incentive will be set at 50% of the audit cost up to $300 for customers with facilities less than 25,000 square feet and up to $500 for customers with facilities over 25,000 square feet. Customers with multiple buildings will be eligible for multiple audit incentives.

Please submit a separate application for the energy audit when you apply to the KCP&L C/I Rebate Program for energy efficiency upgrades. A copy of the audit report must be submitted with the audit application. Audit incentives are awarded only after a recommendation in the audit receives a rebate.

The audit must be performed by a KCP&L certified energy auditor. Click here for a list of certified auditors. The customer is responsible for contracting with and paying the auditor. Audit rebates will be paid directly to the customer. The customer is also responsible for selecting the auditor. KCP&L does not warrant or guarantee the auditor's work product.
